With the intention to sharpen the skills of young state participants, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has showed its eagerness to bring in ex Australia opener Matthew Hayden for a short training period.
After ex India medium-pacer Venkatesh Prasad failed to encourage UP during the Ranji period passed by, when the squad lost a lot of games than they gained, the state union is eyeing foreign assistance after employing ex batsman Rizwan Shamshad as its head coach.

Khanna informed that the discussions with Hayden are in the concluding phases and only the Australian’s payment is to be determined.
Hayden is likely to train the young UP players by October end or the beginning of November.
“Uttar Pradesh has always been the state for bowlers. We gave the highest number of bowlers to the nation during the last few years. Now we wish to reinforce our batting line-up and as Hayden was accessible, we asked him. His know-how will assist our boys to sharpen their systems and rational approach. We will choose good batsmen for Ranji and different age groups and they will be addressed for the camp in Greater Noida before October,” UPCA secretary Rajeev Shukla stated.
“We have Rizwan Shamshad, whom we have nominated coach for the impending period,” Shukla stated. “He will be there with the boys. I think there is no harm in having Hayden, UPCA is always seeking experts, be it Indian global cricketer or overseas players.”
In the meantime, for the first time, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association will be hosting the Deodhar Trophy, which is said to be played during January next year.
