Copa America 2015: Argentina beat Colombia and reaches semi finals
Argentina is so far one of the best teams to play in soccer matches. It has some of the best players that got better off Colombia by a penalty shoot on Friday. Argentina defeated Colombia by 5-4 goals to reach the semi finals of the Copa America 2015 tournament after a very closely contested match on Friday which finished 0-0 full time. Former Juventus striker Carlos Tevez was known as the best man in yesterdays match after the decisive sudden death spot kick after Colombia’s Jeison Murillo gave them a free end for the initiative. Tevez’s penalty shoot was the final twist to the game where Lucas Biglia and Marcos Rojo missed some kicks for Argentina that would have paved the way for victory for Argentina. Argentina would be now playing in the semi final against the winner of Saturday’s quarter-final between Brazil and Paraguay.
Colombia was badly defeated and Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina had a real bad time as he single handedly tried to keep his side to the ball to prevent goals and he indeed displayed good effort by a series of superb saves during 90 minutes to give a hard time to the most favorite team. Argentina had previously dominated Colombia and threatened them from all ends and also gave a series of fouls that was not taken into account by Mexican referee Roberto Garcia. Argentina mid fielder Javier Pastore threatened the goalkeeper with attempt of goals only after seven minutes. Three minutes later, Captain Lionel Messi swept forward from halfway and let Di Maria to shoot a goal at Ospina. James Rodriguez, the Colombia player was the first of the six players who already received a caution in the opening 45 minutes when he was booked and shown a card for disputing. By half time, three more Colombians – Santiago Arias, Alexander Mejia and Juan Cuadrado — had already earned yellow cards. Javier Mascherano and Sergio Aguero of Argentina were also booked. The game was really interesting and a close game for both the players in which Argentina was at the upper hand and would be playing for the semi finals.
