BCCI India aims at Saving IPL Sundar Raman by forming new Working Group Committee
In the recent IPL council meeting, BCCI India is looking forward to form a new committee or Group to look forward to next IPL and handle other ongoing tensions. The meeting was done by Sundar Raman, who has been investigated for involvement in IPL betting. It was shocking to see that BCCI India has erred so heavily by inviting Sundar Raman to team meeting. This puts serious doubts on BCCI India, which is looking forward to cleaning Indian cricket from allegations and IPL betting. It was not fair but completely ridiculous for allowing Sundar Raman to be part of a group which will show the way for Indian Cricket.
It was disturbing to see conflict of interests as board is staying silent on fate of Sundar Raman despite knowing his involvement in IPL betting. Since 2013, Sundar Raman has been under scanner and doubts over his involvement in IPL betting by various investigation agencies appointed by Supreme Court of India. Mukul Mudgal committee already filed a report which confirms that Raman contacted bookie 8 times in one season while Lodha committee says that Raman was involved in serious betting scandal. Raman’s involvement in meeting and groups ongoing in BCCI puts serious allegations on BCCI’s as well. The meeting also ended as a eyewash without mentioning a single question about suspended franchises from Rajasthan and Chennai and what board has decided about them. The group or committee will decide in another six weeks about what needs to be done about them. As per the IPL constitution, involvement of any official related to IPL franchise in corrupt practices will call for termination of that franchise. This poses questions over BCCI that why board is hesitant to scrap CSK and RR franchise? Even though board has banned Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj kundra but still the fate of CSR and RR is still to be decided. Chairman Rajeev Shukla made comment that board is trying to protect interests of stakeholders, so does this means that board is trying save CSR and RR franchises? It was sorry to see that board’s focus is to save IPL image than saving Indian Cricket from the blotted image. Shukla also added that the working committee/group will discuss over how league would be presented in better ways to public and IPL 9 is going to better than previous seasons. The statement confirms that board is looking at fixing IPL mess rather than focusing on Indian National Team.
